ARTIFICIAL SATELLITE TYPES

If you are to look back into history, you will discover that for the past and well over 60 years ago, there was nothing like artificial satellite such as we now have. Since the adventure of the Russian space craft, Sputnik, much more than 4800 satellites have been launched by various governments and private organizations all over the world. It is noteworthy for us to know the uses of satellite, even beyond the primary usage of satellite TV. Besides this, there are many purposes for which satellites are used and some will be named in this article.
TYPES OF SATELLITES
The moon is a satellite of the earth, and the earth itself is a satellite of the sun. These are natural satellites. However, it should be noted that the first is called “Moon” and the second called “Planet”. Artificial satellites which are made by man orbit any celestial body and they are also called satellite. It does not really matter whatever celestial body they orbit, they are still referred to as satellites.
The usage of the satellite can be for varieties of purposes and therefore, in this article, they are categorized as follow:
COMMUNICATION SATELLITES
Signal distribution for audio, telephone, and television are enabled through satellite, and these are called communication satellites. For the transmission to be effective, a satellite needed to be installed in geostationary orbit. The first breakthrough in this sector was made in 1964 by the US Department of Defense with Syncom3.
In the world of communication today, without geostationary satellite, you will not be opportune to enjoy audio, video communication like satellite TV.
NAVIGATION SATELLITE
This is very important to transportation companies the world over. The sectors that come to mind in the transportation industry are mainly two, which is Marine and Aviation. Navigation satellite can also be used to measure the distance between buildings.
MILITARY SATELLITE
As the name implies, this is the one used by the military and it is similar to weather satellite. It is aided with higher resolution cameras. It does not use normal communication equipment, but the usage of encryption and most often, these kinds of satellites have different orbits.

Satellites are therefore likened to the relevance of sugar to tea, your ability to watch your program of choice is dependent on it.
